Dr. Rose lectures at the ishrs sponsored course
Dr Rose was part of the invited faculty for an ISHRS sponsored course on Female Hair Loss and Treatments. The workshop was hosted by Dr Jerzy Kolasinski in Poznan, Poland July 9-12, 2009. The faculty also included Dr Carlos Puig from Texas, Dr Russell Knudsen from Sydney Australia as well as several prominent Polish surgeons and dermatologists.
Dr Rose lectured on the subject of complications in the treatment of female hair loss. His lecture covered carious ways to avoid difficulties whether they occur in the design stages of the hair surgery or the actual surgery and post op period.
The course included a live surgery portion and during this session Dr Rose demonstrated his use of the ledge closure, FIT and the preparation of recipient sites.
The course was ell attended and attracted physicians from various parts o the Europe, Asia and the US. There is a plan to replicate the course in the US in 2010 with the same faculty.
After teaching at the ISHRS workshop in Poznan hosted by Dr Kolazinski, Dr Rose attended the annual meeting of the ISHRS which took place in Amsterdam, July 22-26, 2009.
During the meeting Dr Rose presented a lecture on the use of mesotherapy for the treatment of hair loss. He discussed the available studies and the rationale for this therapy.
Dr Rose cited ongoing research that looks that the combination of pantenol, minoxidil, finasteride, trace minerals and vitamins injected into the skin to promote hair growth.
Dr Rose moderated a session on the "tricophytic closure" techniques and the use of his "ledge closure" technique was discussed. Many physicians indicate that they use some form of tricophytic closure to diminish the appearance of a donor scar when strip harvesting is utilized.
A soon to be completed study concerning the role of an inflammatory process as a causal component of female and male hair loss is about to be submitted for peer review and probable publication.
Dr Rose has been a contributor to this research. He is in the process of developing protocols that make use of these findings to establish the effects of various drugs on male and female hair loss.
